Steel is one of the 18 Pokemon types introduced in Generation 2. Steel-type Pokemon are associated with metal, armor, and machinery. Steel is the best defensive type in the game with 10 resistances (including Dragon and Fairy) and a complete Poison immunity. Steel resists an incredible 10 of the 18 types. Before Generation 6, Steel also resisted Dark and Ghost, but lost those resistances in the type chart rebalance. Steel moves are super effective against Ice, Rock, and Fairy.
