About the Flying Type

Flying is one of the 18 Pokemon types introduced in Generation 1. Flying-type Pokemon are associated with birds, the sky, and wind. Flying moves are super effective against Grass, Fighting, and Bug types. Defensively, Flying has a complete Ground immunity, making it immune to the most common attacking type in the game. Flying-types are also immune to Spikes and Sticky Web. Many Flying-types learn Defog, the most reliable entry hazard removal move.

Battle Strategy Tips

  • Flying is immune to Ground, Spikes, and Sticky Web, making it the best hazard-resistant type. Corviknight and Mandibuzz use this to Defog safely.
  • The Ground immunity is the most valuable defensive trait. Use Flying-types to switch into predicted Earthquakes from Garchomp, Landorus, and Excadrill.
  • Priority Defog from Corviknight and Mandibuzz keeps hazards off your side. Combined with Ground immunity, these Flying-types can switch into Earthquakes and clear hazards simultaneously.
