About the Fighting Type

Fighting is one of the 18 Pokemon types introduced in Generation 1. Fighting-type Pokemon are masters of physical combat. Fighting moves hit 5 types super effectively (Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, Steel), tied with Ground for the most of any type. Fighting is the only type super effective against Normal. Defensively, Fighting has 3 weaknesses (Flying, Psychic, Fairy) and 3 resistances. Fighting-types cannot hit Ghost-types with standard Fighting moves.

Breloom

The Grass/Fighting technician with Spore, the most reliable sleep move. Breloom puts opponents to sleep, then sets up with Swords Dance or uses Mach Punch with Technician boost.

Zamazenta

Battle Strategy Tips

  • Fighting hits 5 types super effectively (Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, Steel), the most of any type alongside Ground. Pair with Ghost coverage (Scrappy ability) to hit Ghost immunities.
  • Fighting-types fear Psychic, Flying, and Fairy moves. Pair with Steel-types to resist all three. Corviknight and Metagross cover these weaknesses effectively.
  • Many Fighting-types get priority moves. Mach Punch, Bullet Punch, and Vacuum Wave are common. Use Fighting priority to pick off weakened faster threats.
