About the Ghost Type

Ghost is one of the 18 Pokemon types introduced in Generation 1. Ghost-type Pokemon are associated with spirits, the afterlife, and darkness. Ghost moves are super effective against Psychic and Ghost types. Defensively, Ghost is exceptional with two complete immunities (Normal and Fighting), making it the best spinblocker in the game. Ghost-types block Rapid Spin, protecting entry hazards from removal. They are also immune to trapping moves and Explosion.

Mimikyu

The Disguise Pokemon whose Ability blocks one hit completely. This guarantees one turn to set up Swords Dance. It runs Play Rough, Shadow Claw, and Shadow Sneak.

Annihilape

Battle Strategy Tips

  • Ghost has two immunities (Normal and Fighting), making it the best spinblocker. Ghost-types block Rapid Spin, preventing hazard removal. Use Gengar or Aegislash to keep hazards on the field.
  • Normal and Fighting immunities give Ghost-types free switches on Extreme Speed, Close Combat, and Body Slam. Use Ghost-types as dedicated Fighting-type counters.
  • Ghost-types are immune to trapping moves like Mean Look and Block. They also block Explosion and Self-Destruct from affecting them.
