Fairy is the newest Pokemon type, introduced in Generation 6 as the first new type in 13 years. Fairy was created to balance Dragon-types, which had become too dominant. Fairy moves are super effective against Fighting, Dragon, and Dark types. Defensively, Fairy is excellent with a Dragon immunity, a Fighting resistance, and only two weaknesses (Poison and Steel). Fairy resists Bug and Dark as well. The introduction of Fairy reshaped the entire competitive metagame.
