Eevee Overview

Eevee is a Normal-type Pokemon introduced in Generation 1 in the Kanto region. Known as the Evolution Pokemon, Eevee is famous for having the most branched evolution line of any Pokemon, with eight possible Eeveelutions. Its unstable genetic makeup allows it to adapt to various environments and evolve into different types depending on the conditions.

Eevee is a small, fox-like Pokemon with brown fur, a fluffy collar, and a bushy tail with a cream-colored tip. Its ability to evolve into multiple types makes it one of the most versatile Pokemon in the franchise. The eight Eeveelutions are Vaporeon (Water), Jolteon (Electric), Flareon (Fire), Espeon (Psychic), Umbreon (Dark), Leafeon (Grass), Glaceon (Ice), and Sylveon (Fairy).

Battle Strategy

In competitive play, Eevee itself is rarely used due to its mediocre stats. However, it has a niche with the Eevium Z in Generation 7, which powers up its signature move Last Resort into Extreme Evoboost, raising all stats by two stages. This can turn Eevee into a temporary sweeper in NU or PU tiers.

Each Eeveelution fills a different competitive role. Vaporeon is a bulky Water-type with Wish support. Jolteon is a fast special attacker with 130 base Speed. Flareon has 130 base Attack but poor Speed. Espeon has 130 base Special Attack with Magic Bounce. Umbreon is an S-tier defensive Pokemon with 130 base Special Defense and access to Foul Play and Wish. Leafeon has 110 base Attack and access to Swords Dance. Glaceon has 130 base Special Attack but poor Speed and defensive typing. Sylveon is a powerful Fairy-type special attacker with Pixilate-boosted Hyper Voice.

Eevee can also run an Eviolite set in Little Cup or lower tiers, where its decent bulk and access to Wish, Protect, and Heal Bell provide team support. However, this role is niche and generally outclassed by other Normal-types.

Competitive Usage

Eevee's competitive value lies entirely in its evolutions. Each Eeveelution has found a home in different tiers. Umbreon is the most successful competitively, seeing regular use in OU as a specially defensive pivot and Wish passer. Sylveon and Clefable compete for the Fairy-type bulky attacker role. Jolteon and Espeon see usage in lower tiers as faster offensive options. Eevee itself is ranked in PU, where Extreme Evoboost sets can surprise unprepared teams, but the setup requirement and common priority attacks keep it from being a top-tier threat.
