Iron Valiant is a Fairy/Fighting-type Paradox Pokemon introduced in Generation 9 in the Paldea region. It is the Violet-exclusive future paradox counterpart of Gardevoir and Gallade, and its design blends elements of both — it has Gardevoir's flowing dress-like lower body and Gallade's blade-like arms, creating a robotic knight appearance. Iron Valiant is described as a Pokemon from the future, possibly the ultimate form of a Gardevoir and Gallade fusion.
Iron Valiant's ability Quark Drive boosts its highest stat by 30% when holding a Booster Energy or when Electric Terrain is active. With base 130 Attack and 120 Special Attack, Iron Valiant is a formidable mixed attacker. Its base 116 Speed lets it outpace most of the metagame. The Fairy/Fighting typing is excellent offensively, hitting 11 types super effectively while being resisted only by Poison, Fire, Flying, and Steel.
Iron Valiant's competitive strategy revolves around its mixed attacking capabilities and Quark Drive boost. The most common set runs a physical focus with Swords Dance, Spirit Break (Fairy STAB), Close Combat (Fighting STAB), and Knock Off or Shadow Sneak for coverage. With a Booster Energy activating Quark Drive on Attack, Iron Valiant reaches 169 effective Attack after the boost. Alternatively, a special set uses Calm Mind, Moonblast, Aura Sphere, and Thunderbolt or Thunder to punish Water-types.
Iron Valiant can also run a Choice Specs set with Moonblast, Aura Sphere, Psychic, and Thunderbolt for a specially-oriented wallbreaker. A Choice Scarf set with 116 base Speed boosted further makes it nearly impossible to outspeed. The versatility between physical and special sets makes Iron Valiant difficult to counter — opponents must guess which attacking style to prepare for. Tera Fairy or Tera Fighting boost its STABs further, while Tera Ghost provides an immunity to Normal and Fighting moves.
Iron Valiant's main weakness is its poor bulk (74/90/60). Its low Special Defense makes it vulnerable to special attackers, particularly Ghost-types like Gholdengo and Dragapult. Poison-types like Clodsire and Toxapex resist both STABs and can Toxic stall. Tera Steel is a common defensive tera type that flips its Poison weakness. Despite these checks, Iron Valiant's Speed and mixed attacking potential make it one of the top threats in Generation 9.

Iron Valiant has been a top-tier threat in Smogon OU since its introduction. Its Speed tier, mixed attacking stats, and Swords Dance/Calm Mind setup potential make it one of the most dangerous offensive Pokemon in the tier. Its ability to run both physical and special sets gives it unpredictability that few other Pokemon can match. Common counters include Clodsire, which is immune to Fairy and resists Fighting, and Galarian Slowbro, whose Quick Claw and Shell Side Arm can catch Iron Valiant off guard.
In VGC, Iron Valiant has been a consistent presence in Generation 9 regulation formats. Its Quark Drive boost from Booster Energy or Electric Terrain makes it a fast and powerful attacker. Iron Valiant pairs well with Miraidon, whose Electric Terrain activates Quark Drive and boosts Miraidon's own power. It also functions well on PsySpam teams with Indeedee-F providing Psychic Terrain and Follow Me support. Common checks include Gholdengo, whose Steel typing resists both STABs, and Flutter Mane, which outspeeds and threatens with Moonblast.
